Has a sour taste profile that is not pleasing. For what should be their signature beer it is really just an average stout especially for something that has spent time in a barrel. Crowns offerings overall all seem to organize around average. They put on an alright brewfest I guess.

A - Dark chocolate brown with small milk chocolate color on the edges

S - Vanilla, dark fudge, cherry and light oak near the back end

T - Dark chocolate, prune and grape with light hops and oak near the backend

M - Medium body with a slight astringent finish near the end that lingers on

O - Solid BA stout that is dominated by dark fruit flavors. This is one of the better Beers I've had from Crown but still is only average compared to the other BA stouts on out there

2011 Grand Poobah aged in Heaven Hill barrels. Released on St. Valentines Day at Crown. My sister generously picked up a bottle and shared.
Excited to try as I've never had this beer before.

Very dark pour with some good head retention and lacing. Coats the glass in a nice burnt orange color. Very nice looker.

Nose is bourbon and sweet malts all the way. Little bit of vanilla and caramel. Could tell from the nose it would be sweet.

Very sweet with some bourbon and vanilla flavors in there too. Slight raisin flavor with some dark fruits. Not any roast in there which I am really missing. Lacks the complexity of a top tier stout.

Slick mouthfeel that's medium bodied.
No hint of any alcohol on taste.

Overall it's a decent stout. Too sweet. Kinda like Dark Lord as far as sweetness.
