Over an inch of really rich, fluffy, creamy-looking foam, leaving plenty of lacing and keeping a dense layer of bubbles on the surface. One of the better-looking stouts I've seen.
Smell is sweet, roasty, and boozy, in a surprisingly good way, especially considering that it's a low-ABV stout. I'm getting vanilla, coffee, and something almost like rum. If I didn't know better, I might have guessed it was partially barrel aged.
The flavor does not completely follow through on the smell. There is some roasted malt, chocolate, vanilla, and then coffee on the finish. It's not as rich or a sweet as I would think, given the way it smells. Also, strangely, after taking the first sip, a metallic note appeared in the smell.
It has the right amount of carbonation, but it's missing the chewiness of a great stout.
Overall, it's a good stout, and plenty enjoyable, but the flavor and mouthfeel do not quite follow through on the excellent look and smell. Also, I have a lot of respect for these brewers and what they are doing, but at $17/bomber (plus Alabama's punitive alcohol tax), this beer is *way* overpriced. I don't know if it's their fault or if it's price-gouging from the distributor or from the stores in Auburn, but when you're getting up near a dollar an ounce, you're up against some really tough competition.

Poured from 22 oz bomber into snifter.
A: Beautiful beer. Pours a deep black with 2-3 finger dense tan head that lasts forever and leaves big chunks of lacing.
S: Fairly subtle aromas. Mostly roasted malts and a touch of chocolate. After the pretty pour, I was hoping for more.
T: Roasted malts, bitter dark chocolate, and some light espresso notes.
M: Full bodied and a creamy texture.
O: A good stout, but nothing outstanding. If the aroma and flavor mirrored the appearance, it would be have world class.

Pours a very dark brown not quite to black. Creamy looking khaki colored head of about 2 fingers. Head lingers leaving thick sticky lacing behind.
Very subdued aroma. A bit of toffee, very mild roasted malt, and caramel. A bit of sweet cream.
Taste is roasted malt, mild espresso, and, weirdly, lemon. Something metallic in the background. A little bit of chocolate as it warms. Rather disappointing.
Creamy body on the thin side of medium. Medium carbonation.
This beer poured beautifully with great color and even better head. Aroma need a boost in intensity and the flavor was rather strange. Pretty good mouth feel, but that doesn't make up for its weaknesses. Still not sure what to make of the lemon flavor I picked up.
