Tried 3 experimental variants of GP's Juicy IPA:
Experimental #1: Brewed w/ HBC #342
Experimental #2: Brewed w/ HBC #638
CSM Juicy: Brewed with Citra, Simcoe, & Mosaic Hops.
Of the three, CSM was the clear winner. It was nicely balanced, with a good nose on it. Flavors of stone fruit, melon, mango, & piney, mildly floral hops ringing true. Experimental #1 had a definite Belgian influence, with an almost synthetic sweetness that surprisingly worked well with the floral, peppery hops and melon flavors. Experimental #2 was different, but not bad. Zesty citrus, lemony predominance. A lot of piney, earthy qualities from the hop. Pretty well balanced overall. Final ranking:
1. CSM Juicy
2. Experimental #1
3. Experimental #2
Cheers! For the numerical ratings I kind of just averaged the three out.
