A special cask tapped last night at the J. Clyde. Their regular pale ale "dry-hopped with a ton of Centennial hops."
A: Pours a deep orange-amber color with a floaty, sticky head that retains quite well. Sticky lacing all the way down the glass.
S: An absolute explosion of floral and citrus hop aromas--it smelled DIPA-esque. A rich crackery malt backbone is evident, as well.
T&M: Bright and hoppy with a nice malty backbone to support things. Well-balanced, but still heavy-handed with the hops. Very well done. Body is medium, on par for the style, with an incredibly smooth and creamy feel, thanks to the cask.
D: Quite drinkable--I put down my 20 oz imperial pint in probably 5 or 10 minutes while nibbling on some of the excellent sweet potato fries the J. Clyde serves. A solid offering, and if GPBC decided to make the aroma of this beer into a car air freshener, I'd be all over that.
