On tap at the anniversary party. I was so sure this beer was already in the database that I didn't take detailed notes.

The nose is very reminiscent of Michael, earthy, super vinous, tannic and moderately earthy. Unlike most (better?) Flemish reds, this is a brooding, vinous beer. Cherries are very noticeable, this beer is minimally funky. On the palate, this is exactly what you'd expect the beer to be (provided you've had Michael multiple times) - vinous, tannic, earthy, fruity, complex. Solid stuff. I'm not sure I like this more or less than the base beer, which, I think, is a positive sign.

On tap during the HOTD anniversary party.

The beer pours a reddish amber color with good head retention and lacing. The nose is attractive in this beer, as I pick up considerable wine, light vanilla, noticeable sour and a hint of cherry (frankly, this beer is very similar to the regular Michael, as I really don't get all that much cherry). The flavor profile replicates the nose, with the sour and wine dominating. There's a decent amount of underlying fruit in this beer, but the sour component really seems to dominate the flavor profile. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, with a fairly long, fairly sour wine finish. Alcohol is well integrated into the flavor profile, and if you like sour beers, then this is pretty drinkable.

A decent beer, but not really one of the hilights of the event I thought.

On tap at the Brewpub on 1.7.14

A - Served a ruby-amber with a tan-reddish head with decent retention.

S - Lots of sour cherry on the nose. Earthy with hints of vanilla and wine.

T - Tart and dry, much like regular Michael. Still noticeable cherry and finishes with lots or wine flavors.

D - Good carbonation with a dry medium body.

O - Smells tart and cherry. The taste is more complex, but the flavor profile is good, not great.
