Murky caramel brown.

Lots of caramel, brown sugar, molasses, and toffee. Some oak, vanilla, and heat. The sour cherries show a lot. Chocolate and funk.

Full bodied. Ends with some raisins and figs.

Solid beer. Very complex and flavorful.

On tap at the taproom.

A mildly murky muddy brown with a reddish brown head that falls off quickly leaving no lacing. The nose is wonderful. I was expecting the base to be the wild variant of Pannepot, but it's closer to the clean one upon which sour cherries and oak are layered. Leather, oak, a little earth, a wonderful, mild French oak character, soft and rounded. The sour cherries are excellent. Bright, clean, sour with an adequate level of tannins and pit.

The palate opens with the base Pannepot clear as day, with a dark malt character with leather, dark brown sugar, vanilla, a mild blend of allspice and nutmeg. Along with this is a big sour cherry note, bright, tart, cleansing on the palate and invigorating. Full in body with soft carbonation, this beer finishes long and tart,a blend of spice and sour cherries and mildly burnt sugar. Oak is present on the back-end, lending a soft fullness and structure. Brilliant in concept, structure and execution. Very highly recommended.
