Notes:
Smoked Marzen
This amber lager has a light smokey aroma followed by flavors of walnut and ham. Extensive aging has been kind, making Bierweek smooth and quite drinkable. Inspired by a weeklong family vacation to Bamburg, Germany, and its truly beautiful people, wonderful food, and amazing bier. Prost!

Had on tap. Mostly clear amber pour with a tan cap. Smell captures the essence of both style found in this hybrid: smoke, bacon, and campfire meet caramel malt, nuts, toast and a dash of honey, impressive. Taste has the same components but all delivered in an incredibly nuanced way, doesn't punish you with the smoking. Feel is bright yet earthy, malty and full. Really well done, had another!

Hazy, amber colored body; thin head yet lasting. Mild smokey note riding atop a mild caramel scent. Initial taste of earthy sweetness closely followed with a deep smokey flavor; very little bitterness. Heavy body; rich and textured; nice residual sugar presence; warm sensation; dull sweetness.
This beer comes close to the classic Aecht Sclenkerla rauchbiers, just not as intense in the smoke flavor.
Poured at 50° F; bottom of can data: 16 JUN 2020 PEACE LOVE UNITY

16oz can poured into Hair of the Dog Tulip.
Appearance: Opaque deep orange bodied beer with 2 full fingers of bone white head.
Smell: Malty and meaty smoke.
Taste: Malty and mostly a smoky flavor. Smoke has that meaty character. Would have liked a lighter smoke profile and a little more marzen influence.
Mouthfeel: medium bodied beer with almost moderate carbonation levels. Creamy "ish" body. Would have liked it a little more crisp and slightly dry. Still fairly drinkable beer.
Overall: More of a Rauchbier than a smoked Marzen. A few things could dial this in to be awesome. Still a well crafted lager despite not playing to what I expected from the description of "smoked marzen" as well as my personal tastes.
