Our limited edition vintage barley wine is made but once a year. It's brewed with the first hops to be harvested, and then we add the very finest British malt. Each vintage brings different flavours, which then evolve as they age, so it's no wonder it's gained a cult following among ale enthusiasts. Pop the date in your calendar.
Dark mahogany in color. A nose of molasses, with a rich flavor of toffee, sherry, and rich malts.

bottle to snifter
cloudy amber, no head, cloudiness fades with settling.
brandy, oak, bourbon, apple, cherry.
apple and fall spices. cherry and grape. brandy, oak, tasty.
very sweet.
thin mouthfeel for the style, but barrel character gives some effect of heavier body,
very good, but maybe I was expecting a bit more complexity after 12+ years.

Poured from an aged bottle from 2011 in 2024. Beer held on to some carbonation. Poured murky brown in color. Nose is slightly tobacco, with hints of dried fruit, maybe raisins. Taste was also dried fruit with a hint of tobacco on backend. Everso boozy taste and slight warmth down throat. Still a great beer.

Poured from 275ml bottle into a Glencairn glass. Appearance of bourbon in the glass, with minimal head and a reddish-orange highlight. This is so complex that I'm not sure where to begin. Notes of black walnut on the nose and palate, followed by dried fruit, caramel, toffee, and sherry. Quite oily on the palate, with a rather unpleasant bitter note lingering on the finish. Appreciate this for the rare treat that it is.
