From the small bottle, it pours a clear golden color with a modest white head that soon diminishes to a ring but leaves some lacing. The nose gets a pleasant malt sceent. The mouth follows with a zing of carbonation with light malt. A mild pleasant aftertaste follows.

Bit of a random beer but I like this brewery and visited their lakeside spot in southern Bavaria. Rarely see Heller Bock and at less than €1 for a bottle, it’s a no-brainer. 0,33l bottle dated best 26.10.24 with “Heller Bock” and “brewery-filled” on the front label. Pretty solid strong beer but I was hoping for more pronounced and sweeter malt bill and booze presence. You get the sugary grain in the nose if you really swirl it when it reaches room temp. Flavor is also a bit disappointing, with a sweetness up front but then settling into a weak and slightly bitter character. Enjoyable but certainly wouldn’t buy again. Bummer.

#1714 - Blind-tasted except for the beer's name and brewery/country, zero reviews below read (yet!)...
L- The colour is what you'd expect if the beer itself were named 'Gold'. Clear, pours with 2mm white head that clears after a few minutes.
S- Very mild indeed, in fact all I get is some light bready malt.
T- The flavour is overall quite light but I'm pleased that it has some malty body a balancing hoppy-dry aspect and - Amazing for just 6.8% - what could be hints of an ABV-zing going on. Overall it's trad but those aspects form a balance.
F- It has a decent malty body, which is balanced out with some bright hopping. It would be sessionable, well, if paying local Belgian prices...
O- It's trad-style (nothing shouty or too prominent), under-stated, sessionable and nothing objectionable to note. However for those, like me, buying this as a rather $pecialist-import there isn't a huge amount going on here, or that's different or unique, to give me reason to buy it again. A bit disappointing.
Review/scoring all done, now the reveal, I get to read the bottle lables to see what I missed! ==> Sparse info on lables, just I see it labled as a 'Heller bock'.
330ml bottle BB: 14/12/21 £2.60 Bought from TremblingMadness, York/UK as part of a large pick-your own consignment to London.
