if you finished this cold, or only drank a small sample, you could miss out on something truly special. sure its pleasant and roasty with chocolaty flavors and hints of cherry when cold... but as it sits out and warms/opens up its straight milk chocolate covered cherries, immensely smooth and slightly tart, there is a roastyness and cream flavor throughout, invoking a mocha type note, some sweeter flavors reminiscent of toffee and sticky maple candies. medium bodied but creamy and smooth. this is a wonderful beer!

On tap served from cask at Mad Taco in Waitsfield just before the 9th Lawson's anny event.
Pitch black with a thin tan collar. Lacing sticks to the glass as I empty.
Aroma is rich malts, maple sweetness and a hint of fresh tart cherry.
At first I didn't get much cherry, the maple sweetness comes through and the rich and roasty malts. As it warmed, the cherries pushed forward and added a compliment to the deep rich flavors.
Lighter than moderate carbonation and a tad lighter than full-bodied. Smooth, but not creamy.
This brew really shines when you let it warm a bit. Depth of flavor.
