This special version of our traditional Czech Pilsner, known affectionately as “Scragarita”, is infused with lime juice and sea salt for a well-balanced dance of crisp and tart.
Scrag-arita was inspired by the traditional Czech Pilsner style. Our house lager is a tribute to the source of Waitsfield’s town water and the aquifer deep beneath Scrag Mountain.
Formerly known as "Scrag Mountain Pils Salt & Lime"

Drinking at the brewery,
Pours a clear straw color with a moderate head.
Traces of wheat, lime in the smell.
Thin mouth feel, some carbonation.
Taste of lime on top of a regular lager comes through.
Ok

Poured from a 16oz can stamped CANNED 06/27/23 to a Pils glass at fridge temp.
The body is translucent gold. A fairly large head forms that prevents a continuous full pour. It fades to a ring in 2-3 minutes but laces moderately for the entire session.
Sniffs yield lime for sure but the bready background can be sensed.
The taste is almost all lime in the front. There is a brief Pilsner impression before the salt rules the finish.
The mouthfeel light and the carbonation level is just about right.
A little too heavy on the add-ins for my taste but there are no off flavors and I could see certain people loving this.

Pours a clear pale yellow. Thin foam. Lime aroma. Heavy salt and lime body. Salty bitter finish. Too salty. Really ruines it. Nowhere near as good as the regular pils.

Decent little sour. Not overtly tart, Czech qualities outshine the lime and salt. Showcases good flavors of tea biscuits and floral honey complemented by a dry, lemongrass like bitterness with a touch of lime on the tail end. Salt level is low to nonexistent. I'd say it's about 85% Pilsner 15% Sour ale. Crisp and very refreshing with a mid - light body. Nothing that remarkable or mind blowing but certainly a good beer.

Draft pour into a tulip glass.
Pale semi-hazy yellow appearance with a fizzy head. Grass, cracker, lime, grape, salt notes. Medium body, medium carbonation.

Didn't see the small print (Salt & Lime) when I cracked this beer open, so I thought I was getting straight-up Scrag. One taste and I knew something different was afoot. Personally, I'm not a fan of the "Beer-ita" scene. In fact, in most cases, they're awful. This one breaks the mold, and it's all about the base. Scrag Mountain Pils is a really solid torqued-up Euro style pils, so lemon, grass and biscuits are present and robust. Bright gold, nicely carbonated, topped by a lacing head. The addition of salt and lime on what was a 90+-degree day, really raised the value. Expect refreshment and significant flavor--a thorough thirst-quencher.
