Lawson's Liquids is Vermont's newest and smallest brewery. Sean Lawson is a one man machine who brews on a 1-barrel system and only sells his beers at a few places around Warren, Vermont. You could say that Sean runs a "nano-brewery". Regardless of what you call it, he brews some amazing beers and if you're ever in northern Vermont for a ski trip or a summer vacation be sure to stop in and say hello and try whatever it is he's brewed recently.
Here we go...
Pour - Stony Hill pours a golden amber color with some copper hues. When held to the light its a bright gold color that's clean and clear. The head is about a half inch of white bubbly fluff.
Aroma - Lots of bready and biscuity sweetness. There are some toffee and caramel notes as well.
Taste - Toasty up front, that is the defining flavor right off the bat. This is followed by a heavy dose of sweet, floral hops. They add some bitterness but nothing too overpowering. The toasty malt flavor dominates and it makes for a tangy and sharp finish. This one drinks like a beer much darker than it is.
Overall - Pretty light in body but big on flavor. The malt and hops work together nicely. Nice, easy drinking harvest ale. Great work Sean, cheers!
Would I buy more of it? Wish I could! I'll need to make the drive up to Warren, Vermont sometime soon.
