This one pours a golden amber brown color, with a foamy head, and a bit of lacing.
This smells like dark fruit, vanilla, honey, caramel, and yeasty spice.
A barrel aged dubbel is not exactly something I would expect Lawson’s to do well, so I’m happy to report that they basically did! The sherry casking was the right move for the base beer – adding some spice, honey, vanilla, and oak to the base. There’s a touch of yeast-derived spice here, some caramel, and a bit of breadiness. You’re certainly going to find better dubbels in the land of dubbels itself, Belgium, but this was a rather solid take on the style.
This is medium bodied, slightly creamy, with a higher level of carbonation that never gets too overwhelming.
I wasn’t really sure how this would translate, but I definitely enjoyed it!

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
