$ 9.00 (Including tax)/4 pack of 12 oz cans ($0.188/oz) from Franklin Beer, Franklin, PA. Reviewed 10/41/19.
Marked “CANNED 07/22/19” on bottom of can. On shelf at store, stored and served at 42 degrees.
Appearance – 4.
First pour – Light orange-ish, clear.
Body – Orange, slight haze.
Head – Large (Maximum 6.5 cm, aggressive center pour), low density froth, average duration, diminishing to a ten mm crown with drag marks and a rugose partial cap. Large pieces of lacing remain on the glass as the head retracts.
Lacing – Good. Wide partial bands of tiny to medium bubbles. See also above.
Aroma – 3.5 – Weak cedar and a bit of citrus.
Flavor – 3.5 – Very weak generic citrus with distinct cedar at the end, slightly bitter. No alcohol (7.5% ABV) flavor or aroma, no diacetyl, no dimethylsulfide.
Palate – 3 – Medium, watery, soft carbonation.
Final impression and summation: 3.5. IMHO, the citrus detracts from the cedar aroma and flavor, causing some confusion in the senses. Does not compare favorably to Jester King’s El Cedro.
