Reviewed from (very) long-standing notes. Poured from a 32 oz. crowler into a Cycle Brewing snifter glass.

A: Very, very dark brown, and essentially opaque. Over a finger of light brown head sticks around for quite awhile.

S: Roasted malt and chocolate - but low aroma overall when it's cold.

T: Chocolate, dark cacao, and deep roasted malts. Some woody dry notes. Lighter flavors of coffee, creamy lactose-like sweetness (though this aspect fades as it warms during the drink), and a touch of tobacco (this increases as it warms). Some hop bitterness at the end as well. Sweet malts and roasted bitterness in the hang with more woody dryness.

M: Creamy and a thick heavy mouthfeel (but not overly so) – very nice. The alcohol presence is well-hidden, and carbonation sensation on the low side.

O: Quite a tasty porter, but the flavors just don't open up as much as I expected when it warms up. Still, it has plenty going for it as it is. plenty tasty.

It has apparently.evolved over time. Close to barley wine with nice woody, little sweet finish.

on tap at CCB/RBWG-2015 event.
Poured with a huge frothy light brown head that took a very long time to settle. Actually, I finished the ale before it disappeared. This thick bodied ale has a rich aroma and a strong flavor. Coffee, bitter chocolate and some dark fruits appear upon tasting.
