Reviewed from long-standing notes. Poured from a 32 oz. crowler into a Cigar City pint glass.
A: Rich brown, a touch hazy but largely translucent. Forms a finger's worth of off-white head with average retention and good visible carbonation.
S: Thick toffee, toasted malts, a touch creamy coffee or mocha, and a touch of grassy hops – overall impression is fairly sweet and bready malts.
T: Malt forward – toffee, brown toasted malts, roasted caramel, and a bit of grassy and vegetal hops. Sweet, malty and easy to drink. The malt sweetness lingers for a beat after the swallow.
M: Light body, minimal alcohol. The carbonation sensation is overall a bit low, but I would think about average for the style.
O: I thought this was enjoyable for the style. I'm not always big on malty brown ales, but this one goes down quite well. Mild, easy to drink and fairly tasty. Rating is given for the style of beer rather than personal preference (estimate 3.8 as a personal note).

A color more reminiscent of an English brown, dark reddish-brown, clear with a decent off-white head. Scattered lace.
Smell is nicely prominent with toast/burnt malt very forward and mild notes of caramel and a hint of floral.
Taste is similar, burnt malt, coffee up front with faint caramel following. Not much else though.
Medium to light body, easily sessionable and quite quaffable. The burnt note fades quickly so the aftertaste is more enjoyable.
