Reviewed from long-standing notes. Had on-tap at Cigar City tasting room. Served in a Spiegelau IPA glass.
A: Hazy gold, average visible carbonation with a big white head that fades fairly quickly.
S: Melon, spicy, and topical fruit hops with a biscuity malt body underneath.
T: Melon, spicy, and grassy hops with a touch of tropical fruit and onion character over clean cracker malts that largely stay out of the way. Some fruity yeast esters too. Melon bitterness in the hang.
M: Light body, good carbonations sensation, and the alcohol is a bit noticeable but not overbearing.
O: Not bad, but not a hop profile that I would generally seek out - just not a personal favorite.
As a note - reading the reviews on here make me wonder if there were bottling or packaging issues with this beer. As with so many collaborations, it seemed to lack a direction, but my experience with it was not nearly as negative as some have voiced.

I saw a lot of negative reviews on this one, but maybe opening an older bottle made a difference. I get a piney smell right away, sweet DIPA taste, and a great mouth feel.

Smell is off, taste is garbage. One of the worst beers I've ever had. Taste like 60+ brewers literally had their hands in it....like their actual hands.

I usually am a big proponent of experimentation and innovation. Moreover, I am a big CCB fan, and count several of their beers as personal favorites. That being said, I am sure that this beer sounded like a great idea, and it was very cool to include so many brewers in on the collaboration process and in the actual brewing. However, the end product is not good, it does not resemble a DIPA it honestly tastes unlike anything I have had before. It has an odd bitterness, it's not piney or citrus pithy, it's just harshly bitter. There is also almost no sweetness at all to balance out the odd bitterness. The other flavors that are there also seem to clash with one another and it comes across tasting scattered. Sadly, this beer was a huge miss for me and everyone who had it a recent tasting. A great idea that just didn't work out right for me.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
