Poured a cloudy orange with a two finger, white head. Nose of spicy ginger. The palate very much followed the nose with a decadent, crystallized ginger flavor. Nice stone fruit note to round out the spicy nature. This certainly doesn't drink like a DIPA and feels medium bodied. A bit exotic and wonderful to drink.

I got try this delicious beer at Frisco Tap House and Brewery in Gambrills, MD. I have wanted to try beer from Cigar City Brewing which is based in Tampa, Florida.

"Vintage 2015" (says so on the bottle) enjoyed December 21, 2015 in a Mad Elf tulip.

Look - I was pouring into a glass that holds 12 oz up the rim so stopped at the last ounce or so. I then waited for the thin thick bubbled white head to die down and poured the rest in. What came out was gray and thick. Overall color turned to a dark, hazy orange. Little to no lacing with this one. They advertise "puree" so can't deduct for the sediment.

Smell - Ginger. Apricot. Citrus. The smell of a blow pop right before you bite in to the gum. If you can't picture that, you need to take a break from beer and have a sucker.

Taste - Ginger upfront. Citrus and apricot in the middle. Finishes dry with the traditional malt of a double/triple IPA.

Feel - You don't taste the alcohol but know there is something going on with the intense taste. Dry finish.

Overall - I had to pick a beer to finish up a discounted build your own six pack in Florida. I was thinking it would be "old" or "overly sweet". It surprised me. What should I have expected from Terrapin and Cigar City?

I appreciate how different this beer is, but really it tasted to me like an oddly bitter ginger brew. The apricot was there, but not as strong as the ginger.

On the positive side, the glowing orange color and clarity were very appealing. High marks for looks and for novelty, but the taste didn't stand up for me.

Poured on draft at Duckworth's on Park Road, Charlotte NC...

Dropped in a fluted vessel causing a smallish white head to appear, it remains throughout, as does some oily lacing. Nicely colored brew, just shy of amber. Really dig the nose - ginger, apricot and yeasty bread. The tast is similar, but odd. Not to say I don't enjoy it - only dropped it to a 3.75 because of the strangeness. Like the other reviewer stated, more carbonation may have made a world of difference. The mouthfeel is neat, slightly viscous with some mild pepper-ish burn from the ginger - I assume. It's a one-off, so grab one if you see it. Very much worth a try. Bravo to the brewers.

Mixed feelings on this beer.

A - Nice color. Looks like a nice scotch or brandy in the glass.

S - Hoppy, almost mediciny, appealing chili aromas.

T - I like the chili spice, subtle, not overpowering. But seems to lack citrus or other flavors.

M - Tastes a little flat. Needs more carbonation.

O - Not bad, but not the best from these two outstanding breweries.
