The Glass Key is posted as an Ancient style ale/Adambier conditioned with lactobacillus and aged in Apple Brandy barrels. Served on draft in a CCB barrel-aged glass at the Cigar City Brewing Tasting Room in Tampa, FL.
Appearance- Dark brown color body with a light brown mocha tan head that is minimal. Mild carbonation with syrupy alcohol legs that slowly cling and slide down the sides of the glass after each sip.
Aroma- Strong bready aromas, toasted and dry roasted malts, complex dry dark fruits, apple and red wine, light acidity, molasses, toasted oak and a light spicy pepper notes.
Taste- Very complex and best at 60°degrees and over. Tons of bready and buiscuity maltiness, molasses/caramel, red apples/dessert wine, dry raisins and other dry dark fruits, light lactobacillus acidity, slight vinegar, mild pepper, prominent old wood tannins, touch of whiskey & port.
Mouthfeel- Straight up medium to full body.
Overall- I personally really enjoyed this. Complex yet balanced overall. If I were to put this into a style or two to really explain to everybody, I would say that this is an English-style old ale blended with an aged Belgian-style quad.
