Each year, Cigar City Brewing pairs with one talented Floridian homebrewer to recreate Florida’s Best Homebrew, as judged at the Best Florida Beer Competition, on our commercial system and submits it for competition at the Great American Beer Festival, our nation’s largest beer fest.
Our 2018 Pro-Am beer was designed by Flordia homebrewer Preston Dolinger of The Pinellas Urban Brewers Guild. A true German-style hefeweizen through and through, Prestonweizen makes use of two types of wheat malt and an authentic Bavarian hefeweizen yeast to bring a little slice of Bavaria to Florida.
Prestonweizen will be available at the 2018 Great American Beer Festival, the Cigar City Brewing Tasting Room in Tampa, and a select number of Preston’s favorite bars in Florida.

Florida home-brewers recipe wasn't as flavorful as a true German Hefe; it lacked the proper body (too thin) and clove spice (not enough flavor) to stand up to the traditional beers like Weihenstephaner or Ayinger but it was refreshing none the less.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
