From my friend Dave - think he may have humped it back from FL for me. Canned 06/24/2021, so 3+ months before this review.
Reddish amber color, decent clarity. Pours a good sized off white head, creamy and lingering.
A bit of caramel malt sweetness, and a bit of a funky hop aroma (a bit earthy and vegetal), that becomes more purely earthy as it warms.
Subtle bit of malt, but mostly hops from the first sip. A big earthy/pine kind of hop flavor, supported by a nice bit of malt sweetness underneath. Turns bitter in the finish, but is a soft and pleasant bitterness. The flavor arc from start to finish is very nice, and classic for an IPA - some malty sweet, hop flavors that carry through the finish, and a bit of a bitterness bite on the back end.
Medium body and carbonation. No astringency, but the hop sensation does build on the tongue.
Nice to see a darker, more assertively malty IPA around, and also one with some distinct hop bitterness. A pleasant hoppy beer that seems to meld an old school American IPA with aspects of a British IPA. A New England IPA it certainly is not.

Poured from a can into a pint glass. Pours deep red with a large off white head. Smells of dark roasted grain with some citrus notes. Tastes of caramelized grain with citrus notes. Beer is light bodied and easy drinking, good carbonation. Overall, a very good beer.

From the can June of 2018, it pouts a hazy darker reddish amber with a nice off-white head that leaves lacing as you enjoy the beer. In the nose, it is a bit of malt and hops. In the mouth, it is pleasantly hoppy and malty with a nice mouthfeel.

Pours a hazy reddish color, minimal head. Nice aroma of malt and hops. Great hoppy flavor with a nice caramel malt flavor. Nice hop bite on the finish. Carbonation adds to a creamy texture. Overall a very, very good red ipa, would buy again. Would like to try a fresher can next time.
