Cigar City Brewing "Citrus Siesta"
12 fl. oz. can "CANNED06/03/21 @10:21 244 7703"
Notes: "Ale Brewed With Orange Peel,Lime Peel, and Salt".
Look: A lightly hazy gold colored body is capped by a finger's width of rocky white foam. The head retention is good but the lacing is far better.
Smell: Distinctly lime-like with a secondary note of orange over a lightly sweet malt base.
Taste: The orange comes out more in the flavor and combines with the lime. The salt is present and the malt is not as sweet as the aroma suggests it will be but it remains grainy. Unfortunately that's the entire extent of this beer and it somes across as one-sided despite having several specific notes to it. A median bitterness balances it perfectly and it's lightly sweetish upfront, delicately acidic, and then dry in the finish with citrus notes lingering. It's very well balanced and rounded.
Feel: Medium bodied and gently crisp-then-smooth.
Overall: I'm not sure why this is called "Citrus Siesta" because the lively citrus notes have woken me up! It's bright and clean and very well balanced and rounded. This is a highly quaffable and refreshing beer at 4.5% ABV.

12oz can. Poured out a clear, golden orange color with a small, white head of foam. It left almost no lacing on the glass. It smelled of orange, lime and a touch of salt with caramel. Very muted fruity taste. Not much salt. Sweet caramel and very minimal bitterness.

a really fun new beer here, done with orange and lime zest and a pinch of salt, boat beer for sure, light bodied, super clean on the ferment, could be a tad drier, but its the fruit not the grain sugar lingering, and overall i could drink an easy dozen of these and not think twice, especially in tropical weather, just right for summer upcoming here. way more orange than lime for me in this clear golden brew, both in nose and in taste. i dont taste much grain at all, but its successful on the malt side for its texture, light but not thin or watery, hard to do. the salt adds more of a mineral profile for me than it does a genuine salt or brine property, maybe a touch more conservative with this than it needed to be, but its a mass appeal beer, and more salt might not be preferable for a wider audience. its impact can still be appreciated in this pretty easily, drying in the finish. the orange is the last thing i taste, and the whole thing is really clean and pure and natural, not cheap or dumbed down despite its approachability. a cool recipe and nicely executed. i have long thought these guys needed another beer or two in their core lineup and this really fills a void in a unique way. it serves its purpose extremely well...
