Blend of Cabernet-Whiskey and Rum Barrel Aged Barleywine-style Ale.
Membership has its privileges! El Catador Club XV offers up this behemoth barleywine.
Poured at 50° into a pair of Official El Catador Club tumblers. Foam did not wait around for a photo.
This is a beer for sharing. Classy. It smells expensive and expansive.
Hits the mouth like a backhand slap. It just blows up - takes a few seconds for the experience to slow down and leave you with a taste of merlot grape skin, prune, hot sour cherry, some dry cocoa powder, then the prune jumps back in. So complex. So good.
Feel is surprisingly thin, given its +16% ABV heft. Hot. It can use 6 months in the cave.
Overall, fantastic offering that will get better in awhile. Beautiful beer!
