Cognac and Bourbon Barrel-aged Imperial Stout with Cinnamon, Vanilla, Cacao, and Chile peppers
375 ml bottle from El Catador Club XV, 53°, into the Special Gift Club Tumbler.
Pours a dark fizz with a dark head that was gone like that.
Smells really rich, but damn that cinnamon!
Taste is short of a cinnamon syrup bomb, but it certainly puts toes firmly on the line. Plum, molasses, barrel, all fighting to float up past the cinnamon. The 14% ABV is breathtaking. And then the chili pepper stabs the tongue & back of the throat for an encore bow. But the cinnamon.,,
Feel is dense.
Overall, I got another to put away, maybe I’ll give it as a gift I dunno. But cinnamon is no friend of Stout.
