Picked up a 500 ml bottle from the Cigar City brewpub in Tampa on 1-30-24 for $18.99. Bottled i think in November 2023, consumed 7-2-25.

Beer poured into my BCBS snifter black with very little head.

Nose is very nice as i get a combination of moderately roasted malts, some cocoa and vanilla and booze from the barrel.

Taste is nice as the moderately roasted malt base gives me some chocolate. Barrel brings some vanilla and a lot of wood leading to a dry finish. Speaking of the barrel it is still hot after 1.5 years+ and does the heaving lifting on balancing this out.

Mouthfeel is medium to heavy bodied, viscous and smooth.

Overall, this is a solid BBA stout but is a touch hot with the flavors not coming out as well as it potentially could. Fun to try, worthy of a shot at the price point.

From a 500ml bottle released Nov 2023. Served in a tulip.

Pours motor oil black with chestnut margins and no head formation at all. In lieu of lacing there’s a rousable clinging film of some viscous, oily substance.

Nose is sweet and smoky, rich and woody. Aroma of chocolate caramels. Bourbon barrel from across the table.

Taste is thick and malty and full-on boozy. Tasting dense, dark Turkish coffee, smoked wood and burnt caramel. A slightly acrid bitter charred taste to finish.

Feel is smooth and unctuous, heavy bodied with minimal fine carbonation. Goes down pretty darn easy despite its heft and leaves a comfortable warmth smouldering in the gullet.

Bourbon barrel is what’s on the label and by god that’s not false advertising! Not overly sweet, still it was thicker and boozier than is my personal preference. I did enjoy sipping at it for over an hour.
