Had this on-tap at Brasserie Beck in Washington DC.

Pours a clear straw color with a thin white head. The head dissipates into a patchy layer of bubbles on top that leaves surprisingly thick lacing - I can actually track my sips.

Smells of light pilsener malts with hints of light fruits - bananas and pears with hints of oranges.

Tastes similar to how it smells. Grainy light malt flavors are backed up by light light (not a typo) fruit flavors. The ending is just a tad on the bitter side.

Mouthfeel is good. It's certainly on the light side, but it goes down smoothly.

Drinkability is good. It may be because I was thirsty after walking to the bar, but I downed one of these fast and could go for a few more.

Overall I enjoyed this beer. It didn't have a ton of flavor or any overly redeeming qualities, but I found it highly drinkable. Worth a shot.

Appearance of hazy straw, combination of carbonation and suspended yeast particles makes it look like sand in my beer. Head is frothy white but recedes quickly to form a ring. Smell is of light boozy, bready spice, also some hay. Very mild. Flavour is mildly yeasty and spicy, although not the most drinkable stuff I've ever come across. As Mr. Horse would say, "No sir, I don't like it at all". Forget imports when it comes to stuff like this, I'll stick to Unibroue.

This beer has a nice golden color and is hazy. Head is white, compact and stable. Carbonation is very lively.

Smell is spicy like cardemom and coriander. Some yeast-like notes. Alcohol is evident and overrules much of the other flavors.

Taste is bitter and sizzling of the extreme carbonation. A lot of alcohol and foesels, remarkable for a 6,5% beer. Warming when swallowed. There must be a hell of an amount of sugar in here. The body is also very thin, which confirms my suspicions even more. The thin body also makes the bitterness a little raw and sharp.

It tastes like a watered down delirium tremens, with the herbs and the thin body. There are better beers out there.

My first impression of this beer was its somewhat feeble name: Campus Gold, which conjures up images of NA macro-swill. The name aside, the beer's appearance is average for a Belgian Pale: nothing really stands out in any way. The beer is apple-juice coloured, light orange, but with a denser look about it, somewhat unclear and dull, giving little sparkle. The head started small at 1 finger, large bubbled, and then receded to a very thin, patchy layer of bone-white foam. Despite that, the lacing was surprisingly attractive as it washed the sides of the glass, but it never lasted long. Some sourish but sweet pineapple on the aroma at first, some pear and apple peel as well. A wood smell, with dusty yeast spiciness, and a dash of light malt. The spicy, almost solvent-like aroma reminds me of some barley wines. The alcohol, though a mere 6%, really asserts itself in the nose. The reason for this is that the BB on this bottle is 1 year ago; I thought this bottle tasted somewhat aged--more pronounced alcohol, stronger aroma and taste. Yes, stronger taste, but I cannot say the aging has done much to complement the flavour otherwise. It starts well enough, with strong perfume, alcohol and yeast. This beer is definitely past its prime: the yeast has had its effect overmuch, and it leaves a dry, unflavourful bitter wood feel as a finish. All throughout is the pronounced phenol note, with a strong dose of hop in the aftertaste, which redeems the taste somewhat. The malt comes and goes as a syrupy vanilla. A definite grapefruit flavour if exhaled from the mouth. I am not impressed with the taste. The mouthfeel is good, enough carbonation for easy drinkability, despite some of the off-putting character of this aged bottle. The sediment, poured separately, gave off assertive mint and almost cherry sweetness. Taste was of old yeast. Definitely nothing extraordinary from Huyghe, but I suppose it should be tried at least once. In short, it had some very good elements, but it was just short on complexity and balance. Under-developed and over-aged, this bottle was.

Appearance: hazy apricot color, underneath a short, slight, though terrifically bubbly white head.
Aroma, musty, sour, citric, a slice of lemon, and a drizzle of orange zest, yeasty, with a brilliant hoppy twist, almost champagne-like in effervescence.
Taste: a blast, right-off of hopp-tude, but theareafter, the flavor is mild, though that blast returns with every subsequent sip. Flavor continues to be spicy, citric, and kicky, though light in body with a medium, uneventful finish. Despite certain disappointments, the flavor never lacks a recurring spicy tinge.

Appearance:

Neat little brown bottle, best by next month, so that's always good to know. Pours a hazy yellowish amber with a BIG lovely head. I love the head on this thing, it's just not going away. Rather attractive beer.

Smell:

Hmm... some spicy hops, TOUCH of citron, definitely apple, grainy wheatness. Kinda starchy maybe? Dunno how a smell can be starchy, but that's what I'm feeling here.

Taste:

Hm, what I like I LOVE. Very pleasant hoppy bitterness, the aforementioned apple and citron shows up somewhere on the palatte. But there's a sort of maltiness here that I don't approve of. Doesn't balance well with the hops.

Mouthfeel:

Straight up medium body, rather smooth, but very heavy on the carbonation. Almost too much, but each sip is rather pleasant.

Drinkability:

The carbonation and that malt I complained about ruins the drinkability on this. It's not a bad beer at all, but I just don't see myself going for another bottle after this one.

Notes:

Definitely worth trying. I have a love/hate relationship with this stuff, but the decent rating I'm giving it leans far more towards love.

Hazy light yellow/straw in colour. Large creamy head that is persistant. Very strongly carbonated, so much so it was pushing around the yeast particles like a snow dome.

Light nose that is slightly piercing with traces of white fruit and spices.

Palate is thick and creamy and long. A little underdone flavour wise but still some good tart flavours coming through. Some burn on the finish

Decent beer with good flavours, just a little subtle.

Poured from a 330 ml brown bottle. Freshness date marked on the back label says this stuff is a year past its prime. Well, in the name of science then...

Pretty good little beer, big fluffy head, and OK lace. i don't know if its me lately but i keep smelling detergent in these lighter coloured belgian blondes and tripels, and this one was no different, theres also a starchy wheaty smell in there aswell and a bit of apple , pretty decent beer, a medium body with a nicely bitter finish, bit of apple fruit in there, and quite gassy.
