Pretty representative of the style. Dark, full-bodied, and malty, with a piney hop finish. Who says black IPAs are dead?

Looks like a black ipa should, pitch black with a foamy off white head.
The smell is very malty, treacle, brown sugar.
The taste is malty, like the smell, similar flavors. There's a little bitterness but no real hop flavors. Doesn't taste bad but doesn't taste like a black ipa either.
The mouthfeel is pretty thick with medium carbonation.
I really liked this beer but it's not a black IPA. Tastes More like an American strong ale, similar to brown shugga. Super malty, treacle, and brown sugar with bitterness but no real hop flavor.

Well balanced Black IPA. Compared to others in its class, has less of the toasted flavor up front but more of the hops flavor out back. I've started turning to black ales more and more when I can't decide what to drink and this one doesn't let me down.

Had on tap. Has nice aromas of rye, hops, brown sugar and bitters, and the taste backed it up, but I struggled to find an anchor for the flavors to cling to. Felt somewhat misguided in the body. Still plenty good, but beef it up!
