This traditionally inspired Porter is brewed with chocolate malts, Carafa malts, and a touch of vanilla. To achieve additional depth, we nib with ground cacao during fermentation.

12 oz can from a Western North Carolina Ingles Market enjoyed at the Brevard Music Center (banjos).
This smooth, full bodied porter delivers the substantial chocolate notes expected. No off notes detected.

This was another beer that I picked up at an Ingles in North Carolina late last summer, as I was able to obtain a single can of this. Enjoyed my other offering from Blowing Rock and indeed, this was lovely as it lived up to the description on the label.
As to be expected, this poured a dark brown with a uniform clarity to it, as it was topped off by a sufficient, but slightly uneven head. That took long enough to settled as the liquid was consistently topped off with mocha bubbles for the duration. Loads of thick and spotty lacing remained as they easily covered a decent proportion of my pint glass. Cocoa nibs, vanilla extract, and dark fruit filled the nose as the taste also contained dark bread with a persistent roasted undertone. Full in body and slick in the aftertaste, this was a bit cloying, subtly sweet, and just strong enough in heft to leave a bit of alcohol in the aftertaste.
Even a bit of milk stuck around in the aftertaste with the end result being a pleasing offering that was subtly complex and worth taking the time to enjoy. Canned on 5/26 of last year, this held up well although I wish I could have had it a bit fresher. While certainly not a typical American Porter, fans of the style would be wise to seek this out in order to appreciate this beer's nuances.

Picked up a 12 oz single from the Highland Lakes Ingles cooler 5-10-23 for $2.00. Canned on 2-9-23; consumed 2-4-24. Cold stored since purchase so i have confidence that this stayed reasonably fresh.
Beer poured brown with a nice off white head.
Nose has hints of chocolate and light roasted malts.
Taste is s light but substantive malt base that gives notes of chocolate. Hopping is definitely there but lightly done and balances nicely. Finishes with a touch of cocoa.
Mouthfeel is light bodied and both smooth and refreshing.
Overall a pretty solid beer.
