Poured into a standard shaker.

This is definitely not an 'amber ale.' Pours a light straw color with a two finger head. I look through the glass and this is the chunkiest, most sediment filled pour I have ever seen. Huge chunks floating in suspension, disgusting. My gag reflex is challenged. I stick my nose in to take a whiff and first draw I smell nothing, smells like an American Adjunct Lager. I take a second smell, oh wait there is something there, it is rancid whatever it is.

Take my first sip and I don't get much flavor. Second sip is fill with the acidic flavors of battery acid and rotten vegetables. The chunky sediment is sticking to the inside of my mouth and is all over my lips. I spit it out and drainpour the rest.

An obviously infected beer as I could not imagine this being the brewer's intention. This brewery has major quality control issues that need to be fixed. Normally I would not post this review, but I have spoken with others who have had the exact same issues. I also tried the Knot So Pale Ale, which had similar infection issues. I really hope Eastern Shore can get it together.

This was the worst beer I have ever had.

Had this on a lovely weekend at the end of August. My girlfriend and I had just left a show where one of her favorite performers sang for a crowd of no more than 40 at the NightCat down the street from the bar. Here I was, in the heart of the Eastern Shore, and there on the shelf is an Eastern Shore brew. Well, I went for it. Too bad. The summation of my notes is "ugly ale, nothing to it"... and that's about what it was.

For what it is, it tries its best to follow the style. It has the malts, but they taste a gross type of burnt. It tries citrus for its fruit, but winds up watery. Smell and mouthfeel were indistinguishable from the BMC's of the world. Low drinkability because of it. It just doesn't really work.

But I still loved the Eastern Shore. So it may get another chance.

A) Orange. A little hazy. Head falls flat quickly and leaves white wisps.

S) I have smelled this before, many times. I don't know what it is but I believe it's carbonic acid. The smell dominates to the point that I cannot smell anything else.

T) I've tasted this before too. It tastes like tart, sour carbon I think. I don't know what is going on, but I smelled and tasted the same thing in the other beers at the brewery. No pronounced hop flavors. Too bitter for an amber, but I'm not complaining. No breadiness.

M) Dry, medium-high carbonation. Falls flat.

Really very bad and I hate to say that because I'm from the Eastern Shore and would love to boast a good brewery. To be fair, they are in their infancy. Good luck ES Brewery.
