this is a weird one, very taste, but extremely intensely flavored. a blend of their stout, the old grown oud bruin, and i think the pils, its pretty unique. very dark, much more stout looking than i remember the regular threads being. maybe a different ratio in the blend? there is a red hue coming through, real cloudy too. smells insanely cherry heavy, almost like cherry juice added. its sweet and tart alike, maybe a few types of cherries in it, either way, they arent identifiable specifically with all the dark malt in this, and all the acidity. wickedly sour on first sip, tart from the cherry and the acid alike. i dont remember old growth being this sour, so the fact that its blended down with two non sour beers doesnt really stack up to it being more sour, but it is. the cherries may aid in that, and they are as vibrant in the flavor as they are in the nose, almost oo much on the first sip. the thing i like the most about this is the way the cherries seem to bring out a rich milk chocolate flavor from the stout in here, more than i ever got in the base beer by itself. almost too much cherry for me, anything but subtle, both sweet and sour from it, a lot to drink a whole glass of this. also a bit more sour than i think is flattering to it, but its awfully distinct beer. definitely worth a try, i think they made a really small amount of it...
