Such a privilege to drink this special blend. Murky pale yellow color with a soft thin modest head. Mellow tart fruity tones throughout, and a soft lightly carbonated mouthfeel.

also called duck duck goose anniversary blend i believe, perhaps the most special beer these guys have ever made, blended from three different vintages, the oldest of which is 2016. not sure if its a blend of finished examples of the original duck duck gooze or not, or whether its threads from previous blends, but its pretty special stuff, done for their anniversary as i understand it. i was surprised to find this both a little overly sour, and slightly less interesting than i expected it to be, the acidity really came up and smacked me, thought it might be more oaky and funky than outright sour, but its sharp alright. its cool to see it so carbonated, usually beer this old is a bit more tame, but this has a nice white head on it with solid retention for the style and a soft yellow glow. the nose is definitely lambic-esque, lemony, woody, aged hops seem in play too, and a definite wine layer, fruity for being without fruit for sure. white wine vinegar in the mix, old wood, citrus candy, oxidized wheat which is not out of place here, a dry herbal thing too, and its plenty complex but also sour enough to be a small doses thing for me, much as i love the maturity and how it unfolds, i really didnt expect to to be this aggressive in that way. i remember liking the original duck duck a lot, but also thinking maybe it was more acidic than i personally find ideal. having tried about a million wild beers and lambics in between then and now, i still kind of think thats true. amazing stuff, super cool idea and blend, but a little can feel like a lot. impressively dynamic, but tart tart tart!

2022 Anniversary Blend.
Hazy golden yellow. Soft, white carb.
Nose not nearly as sweet as 22 DDG. Notes of sawdust, lemon head candy, and wet hay. More muted.
Drinks more softly, carbonation more seltzery on the palate. Dry, oaky flavors. Again more muted than its counterpart, but a nice subtle complexity.
With time, the fruit starts to bloom a bit more. Definitely more than in than DDG.
The age of the blend is noticeable; majority 2019 with a 15% 2016 base.
