Appearance - 4.0
Solid black with a creamy, thin but persistent coffee coloured head.
Smell - 4.0
Lots of roasted and chocolate malt, semi-sweet with coffee being the main aroma, and a whisper of fruitcake.
Taste - 4.0
Do not drink this too cold, otherwise the roasted malt dominates. With a little warming it is malty sweet and full-bodied with flavours of coffee and chocolate.
Mouthfeel - 4.5
Smooth and creamy, with a low level of fine carbonation and moderate to heavy weight in the mouth.
Drinkability - 4.0
I drink this every time I am in Bridgetown, and could certainly drink more than one at a time.
OVERALL - 4.05
Once voted Western Australia's best beer. Not sure what style it fits under best (too sweet to be an Irish Dry Stout, not sweet enough to be a Milk Stout, darker and more full-bodied than most porters), but whatever, this is a very good beer.
