Gdańsk 22/7 2019. 50 cl bottle from Zabka in Tartaczna, Old Town. Very dark label with big golden blurb on it telling me that this beer is infused with Sawdust from Whisky barrels.
Pours very dark brown with a medium-sized off-white head. Settles as 0,5 cm thick layer of foam managing to cover the surface of the beer. No Lacing to speak of.
Aroma is more Liquorice and Salt than Whisky and Wood and with a heavy some of sweetness lurking In the background. Some sort of spices rummaging in here. Star Anise in particular. Vanilla. Lighter notes of coffee, peat and whisky.
Medium strong carbonation. Thin, oily, lively texture.
Flavor is fairly sweet followed by a lighter bitterness og saltiness. Aftertaste is bitter sweet. Lingers surprisingly shortly.
More strange than good. Would somehow have seemed to be a better fit if they had called it “Herbal Bitter” instead of “Whisky Wood”.

500ml bottle served in a wineglass. Dated 19/05/2025.
Pours dark brown, small head. Not much carbonation. Smell is char, roasted grains, hint of vanilla and burnt wood.
Taste is sweet, molasses and anise, some vanilla.
Mouthfeel is medium to light. Overall...it's not bad, just a bit too sweet.

Pours clear, dark brown in color with half inch head. Taste is cola, char, and whisky. Heavy bodied, sweet, with moderate carbonation. Can definitely taste the whiskey. Not too heavy. Nice treat of a beer.
