Rich and malty, this ruby lager is brewed in the monastery tradition of beer as sustenance.

On cask at the Madison Pour House in Albany, NY. I really love cask ale and this beer does not disappoint. The cask brings out the rich and malty taste. Would definitely have another!

A: The beer is very hazy dark amber orange in color (dark brown when viewed from afar). Although no carbonation is visible, it poured with a half finger high tan colored head that died down, leaving a thin layer of bubbles covering the surface, a collar around the edge of the glass, and lots of lacing running down the sides.
S: Light to moderate aromas of toasted and grainy malts are present in the nose along with notes of grassy hops.
T: The taste closely follows the smell and is quite malty and has additional hints of brown bread, but there are enough underlying hops to contribute some grassy flavors and a light amount of bitterness. The hops mask any sweetness.
M: It feels a bit more than medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation. Some dryness is noticeable, particularly in the back end of the taste.
O: This beer is nice and malty, but is rather drinkable because there's plenty of underlying hops.
Serving type: growler
