On tap at the brewpub. Pours an orange/amber with a nice light tan head. Aroma of sweet malt. Flavor of sweet malt, caramel malt, with a light bitter finish. Pretty decent, on the sweet side, but solid.

Served at the Mt. Airy brewpub.
A: The ESB is a copper color with deeper red notes that darken the ale. A half a finger of foam doesn't lace.
S: The nose is malty, biscuity with a mild hop finish.
T: A well-balanced ale, this ESB takes a more American route. Biscuity malts are present, bready with a dry finish. Hops are crisp but restrained, contributing to a nice, evenly-balanced drink.
M: The mouthfeel is light, equal parts malt and hops but incredibly restrained.
D: This is the definition of a sessionable ESB. A pleasant-tasting, low alcohol brew that packs more than its fair share of flavor.

On tap at Earth Bread + Brewery on 12/30/08.
A - Hazy medium copper/orange body with half a finger of bubbly white head that settled into a patchy film and ornate lacing.
S - Bready and grainy malt aroma with a minimal hop presence and caramel sweetness.
T - Burnt caramel malt with a bit of sweetness and lots of bready and grainy notes. Hops are scant, but there are traces of citrus and floral characteristics.
M - Medium body with a light syrupy texture and moderate carbonation. Finish is slightly dry with minimal bitterness on the palate.
D - Pretty run-of-the-mill ESB with not a whole lot going on. Decent effort, but could use more of a hop character.

Appearance: Deep brewed tea and fluffy head.
Nose: Malt, grain, and slight slate stoniness.
Taste: Ocean salinity conquered by bitterness and sweetness. Noticeable malt richness again chewed up by slate and bitterness.
Mouthfeel & Drinkability: Both are high rich and wonderful.
