One of our heritage beers, Yuengling Lord Chesterfield Ale has as much rich heritage as it does flavor and appeal. Crafted in a unique two-stage European brewing style for enhanced bitterness, it utilizes both conventional kettle hopping and dry hopping after fermentation resulting in a dry sharp finish. Its distinct robust flavor is derived from a delicate combination of sweet maltiness and lingering herbal bitterness.

I'm with Bulwinkle88 on this one! It's a keeper at a bargain price. An especially great summer sipper that has real hop flavor and a slight bite! I grabbed a case because there was a half price sale. I enjoyed it so much, I went back for more. Worth a try!

Pours a pale gold with high clarity.
A large head with some retention and some decent splotchy lacing all the way to the bottom.

The lightly toasted malt has almost a Pilsner like taste with a somewhat sharp malt flavor with a herbal bitterness background.
I feel the dry hopping adds more to the flavor, than the aroma, but is definitely noticeable.
The mouthfeel is a little heavier than light, with a decent carbonation and a dry finish and mild herbal hops aftertaste.

Beautifully clear golden color. Head gone pretty quickly. Nice hoppy aroma. Wonderful hoppy flavor (hop forward, without much malt presence). Not a bad thing. Very good mouthfeel; I know I'm drinking a Pale Ale bordering on IPA.

Pours clear amber with a thin white head. Aroma is cornbread and slightly floral. Taste is sweet and more malty than hoppy. Inoffensive nor interesting. Feel is thin, not quite watery, but not too far away. Overall, it's better than most of the adjunct lager/ales, but nor is it anything special. At least the $ goes to the oldest brewery in the US.

Had a post tour 7 oz sample while visiting with Da Boss 9-25-25.

This was the 2nd of my samples. Initially the hopping came across as west coast hops as opposed to English hops. Flavor faded as i sipped on. Not a great beer but not a drain pour.

A workhorse, unpretentious, tailgate style beer.

Look: Pours a "beer" yellow color with a one and half finger satin white head of foam. Surprisingly decent head retention and lacing.

Aroma: Honeycrisp apples, biscuits, corn bread, sweet cilantro, bitter/floral freshly mowed grass... a little bit of peach. Impressive, definitely not what I was expecting.

Taste: Creamy and sharp. Dry with a slightly sweet front end. Upfront crackers and white bread, slightly lemony briefly, goes bitter with a lingering nondescript floral and herbal sensation. A touch of banana bread way in the back.

Feel: Mid weight and low carbonation. Really easy drinking.

Overall: Actually really impressed by this. $11.99 (before tax) for a 12 pack. Didn't expect much besides a generic macro lager but this was very solid, it's essentially a full bodied, easy drinking, tasty, working man's beer with some very solid flavors of bitter noble hops. I don't want to make it sound like this is a "cheap" thirst quencher - something you throw back with reckless abandon as you shovel comfort food down your face - there's some surprisingly delicious flavors going on here (though you might have to search for them) - but seriously this is the best of all worlds. Solid taste /drinkability for a very, very modest price, can't go wrong. I will definitely be buying this again the next time I see it.

Fantastic beer for a decent price. Crystal clear yellow, exceptional head and lacing. Taste is similar to Victory's golden summer love. Still think this and dark brewed porter are both lagers. Recommended.

Tried this years ago and thought nothing of it. Tried it again and liked it. Still not a rich craft beer, but I get the hype. It tastes clean and crisp, with a decent malt body and lightly hopped bite, but easy to drink with no odd aftertastes. Gold color in the glass, the moderately light body and soft carbonation render it very refreshing indeed. And the price… well, I bought a 12 pack of cans. Likely one of the best beers for the price. I’ll enjoy all of them.

I am biased as this is my everyday quaff. But there is a reason for that...

It's got a lot of flavor: bitter, malts, flowers, grass, and lemon up front; earthy and corny underneath; finishes dry and with a lovely lingering bitterness. A very drinkable old-style English Pale. Perfect for a break in your yard work or for a weekend barbeque session. Not too heavy, not too fancy, just consistently delicious and refreshing. Definitely Yuengling's best brew.

The negative reviews baffle me... this stuff is just good. Get you some! Go for the canned version.
