Served on-tap at Al's of Hampden. Pours hazy copper orange with a one finger tall white head, quickly dissipating down to a light film, leaving small streaks of lace on the sides of the glass.
Smells of strong citric fruitiness, lightly musty saison yeast, bit of lactic acid, damp earthiness, dash of spice, mildly toasted grains, some light hop bitterness and sweetness round it out. Taste is very fruity up front with hop bitterness, damp basement must, grains and light sweetness coming in later. Bitter, dry feel from start to finish.
Overall a solid saison. I might even like it more than Grasslands. Definitely worth the try if you are into the style.
