Served on-tap at Al's of Hampden. Pours opaque golden yellow with a one finger tall white head, quickly dissipating down to a light film, leaving spotty webs of lace on the sides of the glass.
Smells of tons of farmhouse aromas from the yeast (mainly the musty basement and mineral), plenty of lemon zest, minimal pepper and the base pale malts. Taste is fairly similar but in varying degrees. The lemon twang is front and center initially fading away quickly as it is enveloped by the must, minimal funk and minerals from the saison yeast flavors along with a dash of pepper and the ever present pale malt. Yeasty, slightly chewy feel finishing pretty clean, a bit of lingering dryness after each sip.
Overall a nice experimental saison. The lemons are strong, as is the saison core, just wish it had a bit more pepper to it to help even it all out.
