This beer was a wonderful surprise to find. A lot of fruit flavored wheat beers have a tendency to be too fruity (violating the man rule - don't fruit the beer!). Decided to give this a try, and it was fantastic.

The aroma had all the fruity notes, but the taste was a high quality Hefe. I did not get the watermelon immediately, but it was a noticeable aftertaste, in a good way.

The best way I can describe it, is like sipping an excellent Hefe and having the linger feeling of happiness and summertime lurking in your mouth and on your mind. What a cheery beer!

Poured from a 1L growler into a weizen glass

A- pours a cloudy shade of pale yellow with a one finger pure white head. About par for the course, maybe a step below

S- holy crap, watermelon! Super juicy aroma, smells like a watermelon candy. Insane.

T- nice sweetness from the watermelon in the opening. Wheat flavors come through as well, and a tad bit of bubblegum that gets masked by the watermelon

M- medium bodied, about what you'd expect from a hefe

O- very unique hefe...doesn't taste artificial like you might expect from a flavored beer like this. Very good tweak to the already solid Straight Up HEfe

Served on-tap at Al's of Hampden.

A - Pours hazy golden orange with a small film of white head, dissipating down to a thin film, leaving little to no lace down the glass.

S - Smells of bready wheat, watermelon pulp, and a tiny bit of the usual Hefe aromas like banana and bubble gum. While the fruit is apparent it is a little on the lighter side.

T - Starts off with some chewy wheat and a bit of bubble gum quickly giving way to the strong watermelon flavor that never really fades away. The fruit is strong yet not overpowering, adding a very nice refreshing fruit flavor to the mix. Finish is a little chewy with some more watermelon fruitiness, lingering on the palate long after the finish.

M - Light body with moderate carbonation. Smooth, fruity feel from start to finish.

O - The nose is a little weak but the taste really makes up for it. The watermelon flavor is strong throughout, keeping me coming back for more. Perfect light beer for a hot summer day.
