Copenhagen 10/6 2019. 37,5 bottle from Meny, Borups Allé, Frb. F. Comes in a little tube-formed box in order to justify the prize. Usual La Trappe design with a yellowish label and their insignia in purple like the usual Quadrupel. A big "Oak Aged" on the label and when I study the back of the label carefully I can discern that it is Batch 26.
Pours murky maroon with a medium-sized dense white head. Settles as thin, patchy half-moon of foam unable to cover the surface of the beer. Moderate lacing.
Aroma is strong, sweet and boozy. An abundance of sugar and molasses, syrup, glue, fermented dark fruits. Oaky boozy. Caramel, sweet malts. Strong presence of alcohol.
Light carbonation. Fat, oily, greasy, lightly sticky, soft texture.
Flavor is sweet and boozy. A strong sweetness followed by a rudimentary bitterness making next to no expression. Aftertaste is very sweet bordering on being sugary. Lingering with a oaky feel.
A very fine dark, sweet and boozy Birthday present for myself.
