Copenhagen 27/12 2019. 37,5 corked bottle from Meny, Borups Allé, Frb. F. Comes in a little tube-formed box in order to justify the prize. Usual La Trappe design with a yellowish label and their insignia in purple like the usual Quadrupel. A big "Oak Aged" on the label and when I study the back of the label carefully I can discern that it is Batch 27 aged in Pinot Noir barrels.
Pours murky maroon with a bubbly white head. Disappears after a few seconds leaving what looks like decarbonated cola behind (the unhealthy murky kind). No lacing.
Aroma is strong, sweet and vineous. Brown sugar, syrup, fermented dark fruits. Oaky boozy. Sharp sourish notes in the background. Strong presence of alcohol.
Light carbonation. Fat, oily, greasy, lightly sticky, soft texture.
Flavor is sweet and boozy. A strong sweetness followed by a light sourish bitterness. Aftertaste is sweet with a light vineous, fruity sourness. Lingering.
Fine barrel aged La Trappe Quadrupel with a distinct aroma and Flavor from the barrel. In this case a vineous, sourish quality.
