Literally tastes like eating a menthol cigarette. Worst thing I've tasted from Sly Fox hands down. Had this at TJ's in Paoli and had them toss it for something else. If I wanted mint, I'd have a mojito.

I enjoy a farmhouse style ale, but this is something new and special, not in a good way.

Enjoyed at the brewpub in pottstown, PA

A: single finger head and excellent lacing on a clear golden body.Excellent lacing.

S: very musty with wet grass, herbs and Belgian yeast notes.

T: very herbal with the thyme and ginger well represented. Yeast and additional spice up front fades to a mild citrus bitterness and grain.

M: medium body and moderate to high carbonation.

Overall: this is a more herbal saison which is fairly dry and not very sweet but still nicely unique.

A - Pale gold, white cap that has good retention with some lacing. Its clear though, not used to seeing that.

S - Barnyard funk, herbal, some lemongrass

T - Has a much more herbal, almost minty quality to it. Maybe some nutmeg, coriander too. The herbal notes are strong, and slightly off-putting.

M - Light body, lively carbonation, light creaminess across the palate, finishing crisp and dry.

O - A little on the herbal side with a slight bitterness.

Edit: After reading the previous review, it was thyme that I was tasting, not so much mint.

First had: on tap at TJ's, Paoli, PA

Poured a pale straw yellow color, slightly hazy, with a thin white head that receded to a tiny ringlet. Bready aromy, spicy yeast, and a huge distinct thyme profile that I identified right off the bat (I use the spice all the time in cooking, so it's very easy to distinguish). More thyme up front in the taste, spicy, mild notes of ginger and lemon pith, mid- to end-palate bringing in the more conventional grassy and yeasty flavors of your typical saison. Not too bad, but the spice--specifically the thyme--is very dominant, and if that doesn't appeal to you, you might want to steer clear of this one. Light-medium body, fairly funky in the aftertaste, decent, but probably not something I'd go for again.
