Hoppy Lager
We named this beer because we’re right off the Appalachian Trail, specifically Milepost 842. It’s a golden hybrid of the citrus and resinous flavors of an IPA with the fresh malt finish of a lager. With its medium body and crisp mouthfeel, it gives your tastebuds the same kind of lift hikers get when we pick them up off the trail and drive them to the brewpub!
Malts: Pilsner, Vienna, Golden Naked Oats, Carahell, Acidulated Malt, Carafa II Special
Hops: Simcoe, Hallertau Blanc, Mosaic
IBU: 48
COLOR: Golden

This is a bigger beer than I expected when I picked it up, but it works. There's a mild fruity doubghy maibock vibe to the aroma. Bright fruit and citrus with a dry, slightly crisp finish. For the strength, I'd want a bigger hops character. It can hang with a lot of IPAs, but not the best.

Not great. Very fruity with an odd sweetness. Taste is all over the map. Alcohol somewhat noticeable at finish. Good thing I only bought one of these from the sampler rack.

Hops: Grapefruit, slightly dank, a little earthy. Hints of various other fruit. A bit of malt and yeast. Not terribly bitter considering the high-ish level of hop flavor.

Hop character is too generically and variably fruity — I think hop-forward lagers do better when they focus on one or two hop notes rather than throwing in a bunch of fruity hops. This beer has a Juicy Fruit type of flavor that seems out of place in a lager. The lack of esters really makes this come off as a weird beer.
