Poured into tulip glass. It pours a hazy golden color with a thin, egg-white head and minimal lacing. It smells of yeast, clove, coriander, pepper, pear, and and tobacco. The initial taste is bubblegum, with banana, clove, coriander, and bready malt. There is also a hint of tobacco and a sweetness on the tip of the tongue. It is well-carbonated and the 6.% ABV seems just right. It's easy to drink but has some substance. Overall, this Saison has all of the right elements but they don't blend nearly as well as, say, Hennepin or Sofie. If Devils Backbone can refine this, they could have a really nice Saison.

Looks deep gold, thin foamy head.
Smells tart and musty with some fruity yeast notes.
Tastes much more fruity than it smells with a burst of overripe banana, Juicy Fruit gum, and a leather saddle. Lingering sweetness.
Feels medium bodied, a little thick and coating, but bubbly.

Pours clear, light gold in color, with minimal head. Taste is big banana, apples, pepper, hay, and honey. Medium bodied with high carbonation. Really loving the banana forwardness of this saison. Could have several of these.

12oz bottle poured into a tulip

A- pours a clear golden color with a small fizzy white head that disappears quickly, leaving nothing behind

S- spicy peppery yeast, clove, banana, green apple, underlying toasted malt

T- earthy yeast up front gives flavors of banana & clove, along with pear & some earthy must. The finish is fruity, with a toasted malt linger

M- medium body and carbonation leads to a foamy effervescent mouthfeel that continues into a crisp dry finish

O- easy drinking a sessionable saison

Light gold, with a hint of brown or amber. White head that fades quickly. Funky yeasty nose, with citrus notes. Great yeasty taste, nice hops to balance but not interfere with enjoyment of the funky ale malts. Taste is swirls of yeast, fruit, and edgy malt goodness. Never too sweet or soft. Mouthfeel a bit slick, clears nicely.

A: A golden dirty yellow color, with a good amount of haze, and very little head.

S: Tart and acidic with wine and citrus notes.

T: A touch sweeter than I expected, with citrus, clove, and banana. A bit of a tart flavor, with some earthy tones.

M: Medium in body, with high carbonation, and a somewhat dry finish.

O: Overall a touch too much like a hefe for me. Something a little sweet, and a little banana/clove. Good, but doesn't scream saison.

Beer pours cloudy with some visible carbonation, but no head retention whatsoever. It is a lighter complexion than I anticipated, a very pale beer. My head retention issue might be from my screw top growler, but I'm not sure.

It definitely has that farmhouse smell to it though. Some nice bubblegum aromas and a tangy smell are evident. Sour apple also comes to mind.

The initial taste reminds me of a straightforward Belgian blonde ale with a bit of a peppery kick at the end. It's a little undercarbonated for sure which usually gives these beers lifting power. There are heavy citrus (grapefruit) hop notes and the bubblegum aroma comes back in the flavor as well.

The mouthfeel is a bit too full and too silky. The beer kind of sticks to your tongue and has a slick texture to it.

Share this growler with a friend, it's going to be tough to get through this one alone.
