From a bottle. Pour had an off-white verging on beet-y colored foam that neatly matched a beet-y/red color. Just like a smoothie, no clarity is present. Scent has a fruity sweetness (berries, orange) to it with a touch of tartness...and smells pretty darn close to some fruit smoothies I've had in the past. Taste is on the sweeter side, a touch of alcohol present, but mainly smoothie-like fruit flavors. Feel has a lingering sweetness (unsurprisingly like a sweeter fruit smoothie), is surprisingly hearty in its body, and has just a touch of effervescence on the tongue. As my first smoothie-style ale, I have to say I am pleasantly surprised by the style -- was not expecting it to so neatly match a smoothie.

12oz bottle from the variety pack

Pours out wine-red, cloudy, with some pink bubbles. Smells like raspberry and orange. Taste is a very muted mishmash of fruit flavors, with a bite of alcohol on the finish. Not very well balanced, slightly sour but mostly sweet fruit flavor. Drinks lighter than the 6.5% - that being a good thing all depends.. Very smooth creamy milkshake style feel

Enjoyable but thin on flavor

From the lower left corner of the label on the bottle: "BEST BY 08.11.20 20:20:33"

Appearance: The body is a deep, opaque, beet red color, with a hint of purple. The head is short and creamy textured with a few large bubbles giving it a frothy appearance. The head is a light purple color. It has some retention and as it fades it dissipates unevenly across the bubbles on the surface giving it a ring with continents. No lacing.

Aroma: There is a light raspberry aroma.

Taste: Up front there is a raspberry flavor. Towards the middle it takes on a bit of a boysenberry character. A light bit of what tastes like carrot juice at the end, giving it this earthy finish. The flavors tend to muddle together a bit and it tastes mostly like a juice. After drinking it for a while a light bit of alcohol comes through. At times it tastes like a raspberry popsicle which is cool.

Mouthfeel: It is medium-light bodied with a hint of texture. It has a light smoothness to it. Very little bitterness.

Overall: The label touts this as a "SMOOTHIE-STYLE ALE" that is an "ALE WITH NATURAL FLAVORS & VEGETABLES JUICE FOR COLOR." It is a pretty good beer that tastes mostly like berries. It does have smoothie-like qualities in that it is fruity, lightly textured, and smooth. This would probably work better as a brunch drink rather than a pool-side or evening party drink because it has a bit of texture and earthiness which hampers drinkability a bit. It's an alright beer to try but I probably wouldn't drink it again. It's worth picking up as a single or sharing with somebody, but I wouldn't readily recommend it. If you enjoy raspberries a lot you would probably like it, but it doesn't offer a lot more than that.
