Devils Backbone Brewing Co. "Bright Pineapple Sparkling Ale"
12 fl. oz. can
Notes: "SPARKLING ALE WITH NATURAL PINEAPPLE FLAVORS"
Look: Hazy, very light straw colored body beneath a two finger thick head of bright white foam that drops readily and then leaves next to nothing in the way of lacing.
Smell: The aroma has a little bit of a pineapple smell that's quite natural. It's nothing like pineapple candy, and has an earthy scent that's like the skin of a pineapple.
Taste: It's tart and pineapple like. It lacks the sweetness of pineapple juice. It's moderately bitter but it still finishes quite dry due to its lack of sweetness, and then its acidity. It doesn't really have much malt character to it, and it doesn't come across as a beer but it is refreshing.
Feel: Light bodied and crisp with an effervescent carbonation.
Overall: If you enjoy hard seltzers you might enjoy this as well. It's far from tasting like a beer, even a fruited one, but the pineapple flavorings they've added are nice.
