one of the more original beers ive had in a while, modeled on prosecco as the same makes clear, a unique strong ale, fermented with wine yeast and pinot grigio juice, and hopped with the varietals that do white winey things, nelson and hallertau blanc, a super clever and unique recipe and a really fun one, love the beer and wine hybrid stuff but this is especially unique, its not a saison or a wild ale, its an odd base, strong yes, but very very light on the grain side of things, one of the paler beers ive seen in awhile, barely even teasing yellow, light as like an ultra or something, no kidding, maybe even lighter in shade, so its a sneaky strong one, much of the fermentables here from grape juice and added sugar i assume, very mild pils type barley malt character, but its a minor player here overall. the fruit is the star, this is very much like light white wine, floral and sweet in places, tangy and tannic in others, no wood to it, but its not lacking complexity, the hops are a killer touch, low bitterness but high compatible fruit character, pineapple and lychee and honeydew and even chardonnay and sauvignon blanc to marry into the pinot grigio this is brewed with. its so springy and light, and while the alcohol is a factor, it works. there is a fair bit of sweetness to this in the center, even though they call it dry, slight apple character with the grapes, but also like, obviously pinot grigio too, which rules. light confectionary sugar, some neat botanical hop freshness that really does add a lot, and some light tang on the swallow from the fruit. amazing showcase of the grapes, but a super cohesive and smart beer too, its the best of both worlds, so delicate for its size, wonderfully well carbonated, which it had to be with this name and concept, lighter bodied for what it is for sure, very fruit driven, grapey and wine-like at the same time, like the fruit and the end product, nicely fermented, the wine yeast is a cool touch for this, seems to kind of double down the fruitiness, and the low bitterness hopping is just right. impressive and fancy! they nailed this.
