Golden Lager.
Don’t be fooled — Pear Lager is a lager first and foremost with subtle hints of pear. We add pear during fermentation for a delicate flavor and aroma. It’s gold, light to medium in body and, like all our lagers, takes five full weeks to make. It’s crisp and clean lager taste comes from five pale malts and a touch of Columbus hops. And oh yeah, pears.
Malts: Pilsner, Vienna, CaraPils, Special Aromatic Malt, Torrified Wheat
Hops: Columbus
IBU: 14
COLOR: Gold

Light golden orange color with a moderately dense white ring of lacing. Aroma is dominated with juicy crisp pear. Taste is light juicy pear with a sweet finish. Medium body with sprightly carbonation on the tongue with some lingering pear. Overall? Crisp, refreshing, and would go down really fast on a hot day. That's all.

Last night, I reviewed & rated a Tart Apple Radler for The CANQuest (tm) & it was enjoyable enough that I decided to CANtinue the trend of Fruit & Field Beers again tonight. This was part of a drop-off/pick-up by my local, in-person trader, @tone77 .
From the CAN: "Crisp[,] Golden"; "Golden Lager w/Natural Pear Flavor"; "Virginia Heartland".
I beCAN with a Crack! of the vent, followed by a slow, gentle C-Line Glug since just like last night, the hour grows late & I do not want to deal with a mess. It foamed up to form just under two fingers of fizzy, foamy, rocky, eggshell-white head with decent retention. Color was an oh-so-slightly-hazy Golden-Amber (SRM = > 5, < 7). Nose had the subtle sweetness of pear. Mmm. Mouthfeel was thin-to-medium, not watery, but not much beyond it, either. The taste was less pronounced in terms of its pear presence, more malt driven with a honey & toast quality, but still slightly pear-like. Finish was semi-sweet to semi-dry. I liked it well enough, but I would have preferred that they had made the pear taste really jump out. Oh well. YMMV.

Very good offering from Devils Backbone - light and crisp summer beer with delightful fruit overtones. Good smell and nice pear taste, almost a cider like feel! Great selection a little off the beaten path.

From the bottle, it pours a light golden color with a nice large white head that soon diminishes to about one half inch of nice white foam. in the nose, it is light and fruity. The first taste I noticed in the mouth is pear, followed by malt.

I enjoyed this exceptional lager in Luray, VA, and loved its mildly sweet and deliciously fruity pear essence. The golden color was appealing, the smell was inviting, and best of all the flavor of pear is not overdone. I will admit to liking my beer a bit on the sweeter side (love Magic Hat's #9 Not Quite Pale Ale and Kona's Golden Ale), and this pear lager is a unique addition to my favorite fruits of fall. I want to find more in my area of Southern MD.

Pear infused brew that's not sweet or overwhelming with fruit. Light lager with a solid froth if you give it a hard pour. Appetizing scent, refreshing, just a touch of pear. A slight tartness at first, but levels out to finish cleanly. Good summertime choice to relax by the water or at a picnic.

12 ounce bottle into lager glass, bottled on 5/7/2018. Pours slightly hazy pale golden straw color with a 1 finger dense and rocky white head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big juicy pears and fruit peel; with lighter notes of cracker, white bread dough, and herbal/grassy earthiness. Very nice aromas with pears, light-moderate pale malts, and mild earthy hop notes; with great strength. Taste of big juicy pears and fruit peel; with lighter notes of cracker, white bread dough, and herbal/grassy earthiness. Very mild herbal/grassy bitterness and fruit tartness on the finish. Lingering notes of pears, fruit peel, cracker, white bread dough, and herbal/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice robustness and balance of pears, light-moderate pale malts, and mild earthy hop flavors; with a nice malt/tart/bitterness balance, and no cloying flavors after the finish. Moderately crisp/clean finishing. Perfectly clean on lager flavors with no yeasty notes present. Lightly increasing dryness from lingering bitter/tartness. Medium carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth, fairly bready/grainy, and lightly sticky/acidic mouthfeel that is nice. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 4.9%. Overall this is a delicious fruited pale lager. All around nice robustness and balance of pears, light-moderate pale malts, and mild earthy hop flavors; very smooth, crisp, clean, and refreshing to drink. Very flavorful and not watery for the ABV. Great authentic pear flavors with clean pils malts, and mild earthy hops against sweetness. A very enjoyable offering, and well made style example.

Look: Clear pale yellow with frothy white head
Smell: Sweet and tart fruit; not too much going on
Taste: Sweet pear balanced with subtle, tart green apple and backed by a grainy malt body and faint grassy hop notes. Fruit flavors are not overpowering, especially given their prominence in the nose.
Feel: Moderate carbonation, medium/light body, clean finish.
Light but well balanced and flavorful. A solid, refreshing lager.

Pours a clear bright yellow color with a thick, white, head that fades to a little foam on top. Smell is like a pear cider, with a little cracker to it. Taste is light, grass, cracker, and certainly some pear. Light body, moderate carbonation. It's an easy drinking summer beer, moderately sweet, goes down smoothly.
