Visited with my wife during a recent trip to Tallahassee.

Tried the following:
7venth Sun Headbanger IPA (draft)
Central 28 Miss Mary Brown (draft)
Sixpoint Hootie Hazy IPA (can)

The Headbanger and Miss Mary Brown were superb while the Hootie left something to be desired (a bit past its prime). Tap selection was the best that I encountered in Tallahassee. My wife enjoyed her wines. Wonderful pub atmosphere with cozy booth seating and a medium-sized bar. Loved how you could see the Untappd check-ins on the electronic draft menu. Service was impressive as the bartender was super friendly and happy to provide samples. Our overall experience was outstanding, and we would definitely come back.

Excellent little hole-in-the-wall bar. Their craft beer selection and draft selection is one of the largest in town, and their mead selection is unique for Tallahassee. For their size, they’re punching well above their weight class. A gem.

Usually has a pretty decent selection. Very small and very hot in this place in the summer. I only drink here when the weather is cooler. They could use better beer buyer and buy different beers from some other distributors. Unless you are a regular you might get sub par service.

By far the best place to drink a pint in Tallahassee. Really cool vibe and a diverse group of people drink here. The only probelm is the place is small but they have plenty of seating outside to chill and drink. The staff is extremly knowledgable about everything on the menu.

Atmosphere: classic, nostalgia wrapped around in coyness. The bar is too small, but its large outside deck always means that you'l have somewhere to relax.
the decorating is strongly Reminiscent of 1950's art decco and it it pairs perfectly with the projector screen that is usually showing classic movies, advertisements, and cartoons.
a beautiful bar that is very inviting, it just really needed to be a little bit larger
4.5/5

Quality: this place bleeds quality. the beer they stock is usually the best,m of the best, of the best. Its hard to pick a truly bad beer of of their selection (tho not impossible), and their selction is amazing
their rotating menu of beer is very well organized and easy to navigate for exactly what it is you want.
5/5

top that off with a knowledgeable and nice staff, and some damn good beer releases and nights, and you've got the one highest quality beer bars in Tallahassee

service: their service is rather good, but it has its issues. the small floor space means that during high operating activity it can take some time to get a new drink, but the staff does the best they can do. they all know beer very well, and if you need advice on something they are sure to give you good advice, and pour your beer into proper glasses that certainly make some of the higher end beers their far more memorable.
4.5/5

Selection: perfection. they don't have as many taps as some of the other bars in town, but they more than make up for it with their HUGE section of bottled brews, and tend to have a higher quality on most brews as well.
5/5

food: now this one is interesting.. the food here is mostly limited to chips, crackers, and high quality cheese, however food options are good at different nights. their is a cafe right next to the bar that can supply most people with exactly.
on first Fridays the nearby Hopyard has a bunch of food trucks as well, so food can be quite nice here, but it can easily be better and is usually quite pricey.

note: they offer a soup of ice cream into any beer of your choice for a dollar more. It is magical when you pair it up with the right stout. I highly recommend doing so with old Rasputin Imperial stout. It is amazing

Value: between reasonable and pricey depending on what you get. I rarely spend more than 10$ when I go out here, so its actually a lot cheaper than some other options, but it is the most expensive beer spot in town. you do however get a good amount of quality from the experience, so Id say that its really quite worth it.

either way, if you haven't been to this bar yet do so. your really missing out on a real gem of Tallahassee.

This is without a doubt my favorite bar in town. I would even say it's my favorite (thus far) on this side of the pond!

Atmosphere-wise, the space is a bit small, but this is okay. The crowd that this bar attracts is of the friendly variety, and usually people will scoot over to make room on one of the sofas. The bathroom lines can be a bit long on busy nights, but sometimes there are two other restrooms available--one at the Cider Lounge and another at the sandal shop in the same strip.

The service is great. Everyone is very kind and quick to help you and answer your questions. The staff seems to know their regulars and even their semi-regulars. They aren't in any way reluctant to let you test a sip of their brews before you purchase a pint, and this is very nice. Some bartenders elsewhere get a bit grumbly.

The beer selection is surprisingly vast and is constantly changing. I can always find something delicious. I've had a few of their haus brews as well--they do a great job!

There isn't much to eat here, but the cheese platters I've had were good, and paired well with the beer.

My favorite place to go in Tallahassee. Fermentation has great beers on taps, constantly rotating. Once a keg is tapped, it's taken off the list and replaced with another type of beer. The bartenders are all very nice and beer knowledgable.

The small bar is always overflowing with beer happy customers. You won't find many college students here as in the other bars in town. Most of the people are beer savvy and are there to enjoy beer, not get drunk. You can rub shoulders with CEOs just as easy as with young professionals.

We haven't tried the food menu yet, but can't wait to try their cheese and meat pairups.

All beers on tap are $4. Not too shabby! They also feature double/triple shot samples of 5 beers on tap for only $7.

Definitly try the scoop of ice cream in a stout!

Fermentation Lounge is a must visit bar for the beer savvy and a must visit for those new to town or visiting.

Aside from the relatively small space (for the crowds that show up, especially on First Fridays), this place is practically perfect. Aside from the Bakusyu Club Popeye in Tokyo, this is perhaps the top beer bar I've had the pleasure of visiting.

The atmosphere is great, with a good mix of regulars and new people. The average age ranges from 25-55, with a few outliers -- there are very few young college students. The staff are all very knowledgeable and friendly, and Scott has a phenomenal knowledge of beer.

They regularly rotate new craft brews in on draught and have a very solid bottle collection.

They've also very recently obtained a brewing license, so Tallahassee will soon have a microbrewery again.

A: This place is an oasis in the beer wasteland that is Tallahassee. Here you will find people who have actually go out of their way to get exotic beers, people who love craft beer as much as I do.

Q: Nothing in this place is mediocre; not the food, the beer, nor the building itself.

S: To be honest, I always go here on Sundays, and always have the same bartender working. He knows his stuff, he's helpful, and he shares my passion for great beer.

S: While they only have roughly ten taps, Fermentation Lounge rotates their selection constantly. I go in once a week, and typically, all but three of the taps are new. Not only does the selection rotate, but they carry a lot of the more esoteric brews out there. They also have a great relationship with the Cigar City reps, and it is often the only place to get the CCB one-offs.

F: They really are more of a bar than a restaurant, and only offer snacks. What they do offer, however, is delicious. They have some very nice cheeses from a small artisan dairy, which is the best part of what is offered, as well as modestly priced soft pretzels.

V: I have never felt that I have over-paid at this place. Their flights, which feature five ~3oz portions, are only $7. It's rare to pay over $8 for a glass, and they typically pour proper servings in the proper glassware.

Overall, this is by far the best beer bar in Tallahassee, and would probably be among the best in any other city as well. Definitely worth checking out if you are stuck in Tallahassee.

Visited this great little beer/wine bar last week while in town per recommendation of a family member. It lies in the first floor of a new construction mixed-use condo complex. Its small and cozy, maybe no more than 800 sq ft but uses the space well with lots of seating. The bar has a rotating tap list with about 8 to 10 beers and a good amount of bottled selections. They have a premium-beer-only philosophy. I was impressed to find a lot of stuff on tap that is hard enough to find in bottles. I had a flight of youngs double chocolate stout, lagunitas ipa and imp. pils, a regional barleywine, and nut brown. I couldn't remember the brewer of those last two.

It was a relief to find a place with such a focus on beer. No TVs, no food (except for the occassional cheese offerings), no bud lightish compromise beers. Relaxed environment that might cater to primarily a young hipster crowd. It reminds me a lot of the new Louisville Beer Store. Its all about the beer and conversation.

If you're looking for good beer and a casual atmosphere, this is the place. There is indoor and outdoor seating. From live music to pirate nights, this place knows how to have fun. Also, you avoid a lot of the college frat/sorority party scene that saturates this town. I highly recommend this place to anyone who is interested in trying new things.

The staff knows what they are talking about and are quite friendly. They have a pretty good selection of beers and are always rotating their selection.

I didn't discover this place until this year, but it single-handedly made my senior year awesome. The location is sort of strange, but it has character, located at the bottom of some apartment building near to Railroad square and All-Saints Cafe.

The ambiance is very relaxed and non-pretentious, with 50s-ish decor. Not a whole lot of seating, but even with the place was packed we enjoyed just standing around or standing outside. There is a decent sized bar with a few seats. The music is eclectic, but often they play some really good stuff (Band of Horses, The Decemberists, Neutral Milk Hotel). The crowd is fun. Though weekends can get reallly packed. No smoking inside! Major plus for me.

The staff are extremely friendly and while some know more about beer than others, they are always eager to help. They have 8 taps that rotate all the time, with a great variety. They offer a flight deck sampler, or just a taste if you like. They also have a huge bottle menu. For you wine people, they seem to be well-stocked with that as well. A few beers on tap I enjoyed recently: Stone Oaked Arrogant Bastard, DFH Midas Touch, and North Coast Rasputin RIS. They even have a blog they update all the time, telling what beers they are featuring.

They don't serve food, other than a few cheeses which they have been sold out of every single time I have been. But with the great beer and atmosphere and a good group of friends, food takes the back burner.

Only one complaint: the bathroom is a unisex, single, one-holer, whose line can get quite out of control on busy nights.

I love this place and I will miss it so much!

I ventured in on a random evening. I had definitely heard about the place through the grapevine and I have to say, I liked what I saw.

The place is a little quirky, for some reason I kept thinking of the 1950s futuristic style and the Jetsons as influences on the decorating.

The beer selection is not too bad - plenty of good things but definitely lacking compared to the bastions of Tallahassee like the Leon Pub and Proof.

One of the best aspects was the menu. It labeled the beers by style and gave slight descriptions which aided my girlfriend in selecting a new beer to try.

Overall, an excellent place to visit. I will be returning.

This is THE bar to go to in Tallahassee, I say that as a transplant here because I hated living here until I found this place. It has an exceptional and ever changing beer menu (bit of wine also), very reasonable prices for the beers, a quaint atmosphere, and one of the most eclectic crowds that you will find in this town. The staff is very friendly, the owners are often in to help out, or just to hang out...it's just an atmosphere of pure beer love in this place.

No food (well, sometimes there's pretzels, nuts, goldfish crackers) and if there's a beer you like, it might not be there next time, so enjoy while you can, space can be limited during a busy weekend, but I have yet to meet a rude person there, so move your way up to the bar through the crowd if you must. Due to cozy size, restroom line can be a bit long, but that would be my sole complaint...if you live anywhere near here it's worth the visit, and if you come on the first Friday of the month, there is an art park with much to see within walking distance.

...cheers!!
