A pint at the brewpub during an early dinner.
A: The roggenbier is a reddish copper color, translucent with a wispy white head.
S: The nose is sweet, a little too sweet (very malty). Underneath, wheat spices are strong, a little tart.
T: The taste isn't as bad as the nose had me thinkin'. The sweetness is still here, but it fits in nicely with the fuller wheat. Tartness is at a minimum, lost amid the spices. Cinnamon runs through the beer, no smoke though. The bigger wheat flavors drive the body, but not to the wheaty end that I'd expect. That being said, the ale has a nice sweetness.
M: The mouthfeel is sweet, spicy driven. Beneath the dirty line flavors, a nice beer is lurking.
O: A decent beer, more wheat than roggenbier. The sweetness grows on you.
